Green Madagascar UV Fluorite Specimens - Cubic Wonders
Dimensions:
8 x 4.5 x 3 inches | Photos #1-10
5.5 x 4.1 x 2.75 inches | Photos #11-22
5.25 x 4 x 3.5 inches | Photos #23-32
Material: Natural green with small areas of deep purple Fluorite
Special Features: Fluoresces deep blue under UV light
Origin: Madagascar
Deep green with touches of dark purple — these Madagascar Fluorite specimens are amazing! Defined by structure as much as its color, whether with distinct cubic formations rising from the surface and/or smaller "waves" of cubes rippling across, this Madagascar Fluorite clearly shows the geometry of the cubic crystal system.
Under UV light, these mineral specimens transform by fluorescing a deep, saturated blue. That response comes from trace rare-earth elements like europium and yttrium woven into the crystal lattice, which absorb UV light and re-emit it as visible color. The transformation is mezmerizing.
Fluorite is associated with mental clarity and focus by the process of recognizing patterns in the mind, and these pieces contain much surface complexity — cubes within cubes, dustings of white calcite in the two smaller specimens versus a rich drusy texture catching the light in the largest — makes for specimens that reward close, slow examination.
These Fluorite crystals make for a well-proportioned display piece for a shelf or cabinet. Keep Fluorite out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from harder materials that could chip the crystal edges or druzy surface as Fluorite is a 4 on the Mohs scale and can be damaged more easily than harder minerals.
These intricate pieces are for collectors drawn to structural detail and the added dimension of UV fluorescence to create an experience in a crystal!
